INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

Unzip and put any files ending in ".package" into this folder:
C:\..\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads
Or if you are a frequent downloader, it might help you organize your downloads better if you created a new folder and named it "Simslice", like this:
C:\..\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads\Simslice

(Note: The "Downloads" folder is not created when the game is installed, but only when the auto-installer from the game is first used. So if you don't have this "Downloads" folder or if you are new to downloading, simply create the folder in that location (spelled exactly the same - use the capital "D"))

GAMEPLAY INFO:

There are 10 Hobbies in FreeTime, which include: Arts & Crafts, Cuisine, Film & Literature, Fitness, Games, Music & Dance, Nature, Science, Sports, and Tinkering.

A hobby level can have 1000 points to reach it's maximum level. Our Hobby Shield could give that, but instead we changed it to give 999 points (which is equivalent to a 9.99 level instead of 10 level). The reason being is because there are other benefits the game gives you when you cross over to level 10, such as Want satisfaction, Memories, Rewards, and even a bonus of 900 points to that Sim's Lifetime Aspiration Score (that only happens the first time that Sim reaches 10 in any hobby - but one time only). Of course we could code all that in the Hobby Shield too... but there should be SOME effort on the Sim to do something for the hobby... and a free Mr. Humble Computer is even offered to help (unless your Sims already have one on the lot).

Basically after selecting your Hobby, go to a related object to utilize your enthusiasm. We recommend using "blog about..." on the computer or "read section..." in the newspaper. Once your Sim starts the activity, they will quickly cross from 999 points to 1000 points (it takes just a few seconds) and fall "in the zone", as shown by the illumation that engulfs them. That Sim will then gain the memory of achieving level 10 and satisfy their Wants (if any). You can stop the activity if you want, you've already accomplished your goal. Later at some point, usually about a Sim hour, an NPC Club Leader will walk on the lot to give your Sim a Hobby Plaque and exclusive membership into the Hobby Club (and access to the secret lot). The next time your Sim drives to a destination, they will have the option to visit that secret lot if they want.

Children through Elders can use the Hobby Shield. Earlier versions of this object allowed Toddlers to use it too, but since they can't interact with objects to keep their hobby levels from decaying, it seemed like a bit of a waste of time from a gameplay perspective.

There is no limit (up to all 10) to how may hobbies you can max out. Your Sim could easily have all 10 hobbies maxed out if you want.

Details about the Hobbies can be found in the Prima Official Game Guide for the FreeTime expansion pack, on pages 18-34.

NEED MORE HELP?:

If you have any questions about downloading, unzipping and installing, please visit our FAQ page which has very detailed instructions at http://www.simslice.com/faq.htm

Any problems with crashes, freezes or objects not showing up are 99.9% of the time related to either "requirements" not being met, OR a fluke in the downloading/installing process... but it's NOT because of the actual object coding itself. Check our FAQ page for a very detailed list of these issues and resolutions you can do to resolve them. Typically the fix is to double check the requirements, and if you meet them, then delete and redownload the item. Do NOT use Simzip to unzip them. Further information as previously stated, is detailed on our FAQ page at http://www.simslice.com/faq.htm. If you still need help after consulting our FAQ page, please contact us and we'll try to help further.
