INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

Unzip and put any files ending in ".package" into this folder:
C:\..\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads
Or if you are a frequent downloader, it might help you organize your downloads better if you created a new folder and named it "Simslice", like this:
C:\..\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads\Simslice

(Note: The "Downloads" folder is not created when the game is installed, but only when the auto-installer from the game is first used. So if you don't have this "Downloads" folder or if you are new to downloading, simply create the folder in that location (spelled exactly the same - use the capital "D"))

DESCRIPTION:

Penguin Summoner!

Buy Mode Price: 20
Buy Mode Category: Electronics -> Small
Statistics: Fun 4; Have a penguin party!
Enabled for use on all lots
Requirements: The Sims 2 Seasons expansion pack

Object Description:

Use this electro-penguin-esque device to interact with lovable penguins anytime you want. You can also feed your penguin guests (and your Sims) by materializing any type of fresh fish instantly. Keep your penguins well fed and entertained and they will stick around longer. And when you're ready to call it a night, you can de-materialize all fish and send all the penguins away with one click. See below or click on "Info" in the game for more details. Enjoy!

If you like other animals, try our "Cycle of Life" series with lots of animals that live, breed, eat, etc. -- they're on page 5 in our TS2 Objects section (but may shift to latter pages over time):

TS1 (original Sims) players can also enjoy COL animals in our TS1 Miscellaneous Objects section:

Or Mabel the Chicken (the first "living" animal in Sims history) in our Freebies section:

GAMEPLAY INFO:

Sometimes when summoning multiple penguins at once, you might notice one of them doing the "moonwalk" - walking sideways or backwards. This object doesn't affect the coding of the Penguin files in the game, it simply materialized them. It probably has to do with the way the penguins are facing when they enter the lot, especially if portals are blocked by other penguins. It's not a biggie and it's actually kinda funny... and harmless.

In rare cases, if you materialize fish, if there are a lot of objects surrounding the Penguin Summoner (except fish) you might not get all five. It probably won't happen, but it did come up during testing once, so just FYI. If by some chance it does, just spawn more fish - problem solved.

The "Say Goodbye To Penguins" feature works fine but is in beta mode so you might notice a collective "penguin-pause" before they all leave. You may notice something else too. ;) See below for other ways to remove penguins from the lot.

THE "Info..." TEXT, VERBATIM FROM INSIDE THE GAME:

"The Penguin Summoner will allow your Sims who like the colder side of nature to summon penguins to their lot anytime they want. Using "clap on" technology (something any true penguin would appreciate), you can choose one, five, ten or twenty penguins to visit at a time. If necessary, you can repeat any of these options to increase the number of visiting penguins to your liking. Penguins will then walk onto the lot from either side of the street, just like any other visitor.

Feed Penguins: This will allow your Sims to feed their penguins and help keep them around longer. Choose any type of jumbo-sized fish (Bass, Catfish, Rainbow Trout, Golden Trout, or a random sampling). You can repeat any option to increase the number of fish to your liking.

In addition to eating raw fish, penguins also like to slide in the snow and chat with snowmen or scarecrows. The more stimuli you have to preoccupy them with, the longer they will stick around. Unfortunately, corralling penguins in an enclosure will most likely be fruitless because the Seasons expansion designed them to disappear when confined (but we might make a "cycle of life" version of these penguins in the future that won't do that).

Removing Leftovers: If you have too many smelly fish lying around, you can clean them all up with the click of a button. This will only remove the unused fish -- it will not remove any cooked fish, mounted fish, or fish in your Sim's inventory. You can also clean up any "puddles" the penguins left behind just as easily.

Buh-Bye: If you want them all to leave in a hurry, select "Say Goodbye To Penguins" and they will all leave. This feature is in beta mode so you might notice a collective penguin-pause before they all leave. You may notice something else too. ;) Another option: Penguins need to be preoccupied to stay so if you remove all dead fish, snow, snowmen and scarecrows from the lot, they will eventually leave out of boredom.

NEED MORE HELP?:

If you have any questions about downloading, unzipping and installing, please visit our FAQ page which has very detailed instructions at http://www.simslice.com/faq.htm

Any problems with crashes, freezes or objects not showing up are 99.9% of the time related to either "requirements" not being met, OR a fluke in the downloading/installing process... but it's NOT because of the actual object coding itself. Check our FAQ page for a very detailed list of these issues and resolutions you can do to resolve them. Typically the fix is to double check the requirements, and if you meet them, then delete and redownload the item. Do NOT use Simzip to unzip them. Further information as previously stated, is detailed on our FAQ page at http://www.simslice.com/faq.htm. If you still need help after consulting our FAQ page, please contact us and we'll try to help further.
