INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

UPDATE January 2007: Updated the file to work with the The Pets expansion pack, if you have it. If you don't, it doesn't matter because this object also works with any version of The Sims 2.

Unzip and put the file ending in ".package" into this folder:
C:\..\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads
Or if you are a frequent downloader, it might help you organize your downloads better if you created a new folder and named it "Simslice", like this:
C:\..\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads\Simslice

(Note: The "Downloads" folder is not created when the game is installed, but only when the auto-installer from the game is first used. So if you don't have this "Downloads" folder or if you are new to downloading, simply create the folder in that location (spelled exactly the same - use the capital "D"))

DESCRIPTION:

"Bella In The Flesh" Painting
Buy Mode Price: 1000
Buy Mode Category: Decorative
Enabled for use at-home and in Community and University lots
Works with any version of The Sims 2 game

Object Description:

No, it's not that kind of painting (...perv). Curious about the whereabouts of the elusive Bella Goth? Well now you can summon her instantly onto your lot anytime you want! Have fun getting to know this famous TS1 icon, and where your relationship goes from there is all up to you (two). Since she was never made by Maxis as a fully-realized Sim, do not expect any permanent relationship with Bella (technically she has already "died on another lot"). But you can still befriend her and enjoy time with her. Please read below for details and... have fun! :)

GAME PLAY INFO:

Enjoy the moment, don't take things too seriously about her and just try to have fun with it. :) This painting has not been tested in combination with the "Bella Goth Retreat" cabin (in our TS2 Houses section), so if you use both, use with caution.

Bella Herself:

As TS1 (original The Sims) players know, Bella Goth came with the Goth family and when TS2 was released, her whereabouts and "fate" were a bit of a mystery at first. She was recreated by Maxis for TS2 (in the Pleasantview Neighborhood) and this painting is a picture of her "TS2 likeness" which can spawn her character whenever you want. We didn't want to alter her file much at all in case there are future plans for the character -- we only adjusted enough to make her interactable during gameplay (which is not going to cause any problems now, or later). You can interact with her in just about every possible way, including moving her into your home, but nothing too permanent -- there are some limitations, see below:

Game Saving:

She is in the Pleasantview Neighborhood (first neighborhood shown on the left). She is not a fully-realized Sim - as far as the game knows, she has died "on another lot" so when you save the game, and come back, she will likely be gone (or dissappear as a "ghost"). But you can re-summon her anytime you want. Enjoy your time with her but don't expect it to be much of a permanent relationship. :p

Relationship Icons:

When Bella is first summoned, you might notice her Relationship icon (thumbnail pic) will not show in your Sim's Relationships list. The Relationship scores do exist and they do change as you interact with her. The game will show in her thumbnail pic and relationship scores automatically when she leaves the lot though (see below about how to do that). So if this part really matters to you, just summon her, remove her (via the painting), then summon her again. All relationship data will then be showing at that point. But it is likely not permanent (like her). FYI, to make it intersting, the Sim that summons her will receive her gratitude... and get a 100 friendship score with her and make it easier to take things to "the next level" if you want.

Removing Bella:

If Bella is on the lot and you click on "Summon Bella" a second time, she will offer you a gift in the hopes it will entice you to keep her around (no one wants to lurk about in oblivion, right?) This house-warming present she gives you will appear near the painting (in some cases, by the wall behind the painting). If you click "Summon Bella" a third time while she is there, she will offer you the option to remove her. If you click "No", she stays and nothing happens. If you click "Yes", she will be removed (and if it's her first visit to your lot, her Relationship Icon and Scores will appear in the Relationship section of any Sim that socialized with her).

You can summon her back as many times as you want, but you only get one Bella Goth per lot at a time, and you'll only get her house-warming present once (per painting).

If you click on Bella and select "Say Goodbye" or "Ask to Leave", it probably will not work. That is because technically she has no where to go (and you might lose all your clickable options by doing this - it's just the way the game is made since the game code would "think" of her as a departing Sim). So don't use those options to remove her - use the painting to remove her. You can bring her back anytime you want.

Or you can save the game, exit to neighborhood, then return to the lot. The game will make her leave at that point.

Taking her to "the next level":

She is quite safe to interact with in all other ways. Yes, you can propose engagement, move her into your house, etc. etc. but as stated above, don't expect her to stick around permanently. :) When you click "Move In", you might be prompted with a dialog box with lots of other Sims (many of whom are not fully-realized either, such as Bob Newbie). That's just the game's way of offering more Sims to move in. If you only want Bella to move in, don't select anybody and just click the "Check Mark" button. You've probably done this before and know what do to, but I just wanted to mention it just in case.

Lastly, you can also click "View" for your Sim to simply view the painting the same as they would any other painting. :)

NEED MORE HELP?:

If you have any questions about downloading, unzipping and installing, please visit our FAQ page which has very detailed instructions at http://www.simslice.com/faq.htm

Any problems with crashes, freezes or objects not showing up are 99.9% of the time related to either "requirements" not being met, OR a fluke in the downloading/installing process... but it's NOT because of the actual object coding itself. Check our FAQ page for a very detailed list of these issues and resolutions you can do to resolve them. Typically the fix is to double check the requirements, and if you meet them, then delete and redownload the item. Do NOT use Simzip to unzip them. Further information as previously stated, is detailed on our FAQ page at http://www.simslice.com/faq.htm. If you still need help after consulting our FAQ page, please contact us and we'll try to help further.
