DESCRIPTION:

Cloning Mirror! (BETA version)
Buy Mode Price: 375
Buy Mode Category: Decorative
Statistics: Social 10; Room 2; Charisma
Enabled for use at-home and in Community and University lots
Works with any version of The Sims 2 game

Object Description:
Too many chores to do? Have no friends? What better company could there be for you than.... you! Clone yourself as many times as necessary! Feeling silly? Clone any family member too! You can also just stay home and relax while your clones go to work for you! Good for relationships too -- after all, it's not bigamy if all your wives are... your wife (...uh, is it?...) These clones share the same traits as the Sim they were cloned from, and you can keep clones around as long as you want, or delete them whenever you need to. Important details are in the enclosed "readme" file so please read them. The mirror comes in six color options: Black, White, Purple, Blue, Red and Chrome. It also comes with all the standard mirror interactions too (Practice Speech, Change Appearance, etc.). This is so silly and fun, I hope you enjoy it!

ADDITIONAL GAMEPLAY NOTES:

1) Who Can Clone and Be Cloned:

Any family member -- from Toddler through Elder.

2) How To Delete A Clone:

Clones are too similar to your Sim to be deleted by clicking on them. You need to use the Move Objects cheat. If you are not familiar with this, please read on. It is an official cheat by Maxis, and should be safe and easy to use, but it MUST be done properly:

Go into the Buy or Build Mode, then hold down Ctrl+Shift while you hit the "c" key. This brings up the white "cheat box" which will appear at the top of the screen. Type in "moveobjects on" (without the quotes and lowercase) and hit enter. Then click on the clone and hit the delete key. Then bring the cheat box back up the same way as before, and type "moveobjects off" (without the quotes and lowercase) and hit enter. It's very important that you do that last step too. Then play the game as usual. No more clone! :)

3) Inside A Clone:

These are individual clones, and you can't control them. They will have the same appearance and traits as the Sim they were cloned from, but to all other Sims they will appear to be the Sim they were cloned from. Basically clones are copies of the Sim and as such they share the many of the same traits (relationship scores for example), If one Sim has a bad relationship with another Sim, the clone can interact with that Sim and improve the score... and it will change for the regular Sim too. But clones have their own individual traits too such as Mood Levels, so for example if one sim eats, the clones do not gain Hunger points too as far as I can tell (they'll just have to eat for themselves). Game messages will be duplicated too - for example, When the carpool is about to arrive, you'll get a message for both your Sim, and your clone. And they can both go to work too... and when they come home, both salaries will be added to the household income - you double your income! Best of all, you can also choose to stay home while your clones go to work for you! You can make as many clones as your game can handle.

4) Try Playing In A Safe Mode First:

This is a suggestion. Try generating a clone (or many clones), but not saving the game at first. See how clones interact, go to work, etc. etc., and get comfortable with them. Get the benefits you need from them, then just before you Save the game, delete them. That's probably the safest way to use them.

5) Why Is This Object "Beta"?:

First, we don't intentionally release anything that is problematic or that has not been successfully tested through the ringer dozens and dozens of times. I didn't have a crash or error during any testing of this version, which was extensive. The game essentially views your clone as another "instance" of your same Sim, in much the same way it (for example) views two counters of the same type sitting next to each other - they are different instances, but still the same object.

I think you'll find this object to be really fun (and funny) to play around with. Events like employed Sims and all their clones piling into the carpool or when the teen clone skips school but the regular teen attends, you'll get both the warning for missing school and the praise for attending school. Try also having a Toddler clone themselves hehheh.... This mirror can be pretty silly, and add a lot of new dimension to the game... albeit in a pretty bizarre way. I've played this extensively with many families of all ages and have had no major problems, so it should cause no major problems for you either. But remember this is still in beta form -- it's very difficult to fully test every single aspect of the game with the clones so there may or may not be elements we have not addressed. So use this at your own risk and responsibility. And if you don't "Save" your game, then any occurrences should not be permanent. I recommend you play this first without saving the game, just until your "Comfort levels" are high enough with it first.

Now I have noticed a few minor quirks worth mentioning, none of which caused any serious problems during testing: If you save the game, the next time you enter the lot the game might generate additional family thumbnail pics of your clones. When you delete your clones, those pic should disappear. If the clones die, you MIGHT (or might not) lose the little "plumbob" (that diamond-thing above your active Sim's head) but you can still control the Sim just as always (and the plumbob comes back if your Sim leaves the house and return, for example when they go to work and come home). But after a clone death, you might not be able to clone that Sim again. I recommend keeping your clones healthy, and I'm sure they would appreciate it too. :p We were also able to add in three ADDITIONAL color options, totaling six. So for a few minor reasons, this object is still beta, but it was far too much fun to hold back from release. :)

5) The Cloning Animations & Sounds:

One of the visual cloning effects is the "shock" body-sparkling effect. This is a standard effect that came with the game, so you may know about what I'm about to write: if you play the game at higher speeds, the sparkling effect may not be removed from the clone even after the cloning animations are complete. To prevent that from happening, just don't use the Cloning Mirror on higher gameplay speeds during the cloning process. But it's no big deal either way because even if it happens, just delete the clone and reclone the Sim. However some of you might like to keep the sparkling effect on your clone for a long while. So you also have that option too. It's harmless either way. Just wanted to mention it.

6) Any extra "easter eggs" (hidden surprises):

Yes, there are a few tucked in there... this object was too silly not to do that... :p

7) YOUR FEEDBACK IS WELCOME:

Because this is beta, you're in some respects a beta tester, so if you have the time or inclination, we would be very interested in hearing about your experiences, whether they are good, bad or just mediocre. Your funny stories or humorous screenshots would be ESPECIALLY welcome!! :D We love that kind of stuff! If it's funny enough, we might even post it on the site (no promises though). Feel free to send CONSTRUCTIVE comments to help@simslice.com -- any hate-filled nasty emails sent to us will be disregarded, so don't bother. Thanks for taking the time to read all this, and I hope you enjoy the... craziness of the Cloning Mirror. I've personally had a BLAST testing this one, and I hope you have a blast with it too! :)

NEED MORE HELP?:

If you have any questions about downloading, unzipping and installing, please visit our FAQ page which has very detailed instructions at http://www.simslice.com/faq.htm

Any problems with crashes, freezes or objects not showing up are 99.9% of the time related to either "requirements" not being met, OR a fluke in the downloading/installing process... but it's NOT because of the actual object coding itself. Check our FAQ page for a very detailed list of these issues and resolutions you can do to resolve them. Typically the fix is to double check the requirements, and if you meet them, then delete and redownload the item. Do NOT use Simzip to unzip them. Further information as previously stated, is detailed on our FAQ page at http://www.simslice.com/faq.htm. If you still need help after consulting our FAQ page, please contact us and we'll try to help further.
