DESCRIPTION:

Colleague Generator by Simslice.com
Buy Mode Price: 4,911
Buy Mode Category: Electronics
Enabled for use at-home or on away-from-home lots
Works with any version of The Sims 2 game

Object Description:

This is sort of like a costume party, and a unique new way to socialize with kindred Sims. You can instantly generate, with fun and flare, any Sim in the Neighborhood who is sharing the same career path as your Sim -- and they will materialize in their full work attire too! Sims can use this chamber to "Dress for Work" too so they don't stick out in the crowd. This was originally made to be a "soldier generator" so military Sims could socialize with other military Sims, all while in their full dress uniforms (hence the camouflaged look). But I expanded this to work with ALL other career fields too: criminals can raise hell with fellow criminals; police can eat pastries with other fellow boys in blue, etc. etc. and everyone will be in their work clothes. Unemployed Sims can also party with other jobless Sims (they will be in their normal clothes). All TS2U careers are available, for those that have that expansion. I hope you enjoy it. :)

Updated October 2005: The Material Override codes were adjusted slightly to prevent some people's "Coloratura" in game shower from showing multiple color options, and to allow for possible future color options to be made in this object too.

ADDITIONAL GAMEPLAY NOTES:

The Colleague Generator only transports Sims that are in your Sim's career field (i.e. the carreer path of the Sim clicking on the Chamber). This includes many NPCs as well (see below). If a Sim is already on your lot, you'll notice their name will not appear on the Chamber. If there are no Sims in your career path in your neighborhood (or if all colleagues are on your lot already), the option to generate colleagues will be removed. Once they leave, their name will reappear - so you can bring them back over (and over and over...) if you want. They will appear in their undies, then change into their work clothes (or change into their everyday clothes if their job doesn't have a work outfit). Particularly outgoing Sims might just prefer to stay in their undies. ;)

Note: You can use our Adult Mentor or our Teen/Elder Mentor to instantly change the careers/jobs of other Sims in your neighborhood if you want (separate download). These electronic devices are found in our Sims 2 Objects section:

"Family" groups:

Colleagues are grouped by their last name. If you have an expansion pack, it should also include Sims living in other areas of the neighborhood (such as the University for example). Many of the NPCs (see below) are by default put into the same family group. That's just the way the game was made. As such, they were assigned a common last name. Unlike in the original Sims game, most NPCs now have real names, such as "Kaylyn Thomasson" instead of generic-sounding names like "The Maid". All standard NPCs probably use the "Thomason" or "Livingston" last names. There are still a few that go by the generic names (such as the Social Worker for example). During gameplay, you'll be able to figure them all out. If you compile a list of names for each associated NPC, send it to us and we'll update this readme file with it and credit you for the info. :) Future expansions (released since this was written) may have additional groups and they should all be shown on this Chamber.

NPCs -- Defined and Explained (for our purposes):

In case you didn't already know, NPC means "Non Player Character" and it refers to in-game Sims that the player doesn't directly control (like the Thief for example). A lot of them are not coded by Maxis to have career paths even though they clearly have a "job" (again, like the Thief for example). So these NPC names will show when an unemployed Sim clicks on the chamber, along with names of all unemployed "playable" Sims too. Other NPCs that are properly coded with a career will appear appropriately. NPCs are all grouped under the last names "Thomasson" or "Livingston" (future expansions released after this was written may have additional NPC family groups, and they should all show on this Chamber).

There are a few NPCs in the Unemployed category in the game that do not like to spring on certain lots... very few (2 I think), but it's worth a mention. If the Social Bunny or the Therapist for example appear, they will usually disappear immediately (or soon) after. You may not even notice because there are so many Sims to choose from.

Removing an NPC that may just hang around too long:

Usually you can click on the Sim, select "goodbye" and they leave voluntarily. In some cases you may want a faster way to remove a Sim from your lot. This option involves the "Move Objects cheat" to remove the Sim. It is an official cheat by Maxis, and should be safe enough and easy to use, but it MUST be done properly:

Go into the Buy or Build Mode, then hold down Ctrl+Shift while you hit the "c" key. This brings up the white "cheat box" which will appear at the top of the screen. Type in "moveobjects on" (without the quotes and lowercase) and hit enter. Then click on the Sim and hit the delete key. Then bring the cheat box back up the same way as before, and type "moveobjects off" (without the quotes and lowercase) and hit enter. It's very important that you do that last step too. Then play the game as usual. :)

Note: If you make a typo (it will tell you), and that white cheat box doesn't go away when you're done with it, just type "exit" (no quotes, lowercase) to remove it.

Very Rare:

This Chamber was tested a bazillion times and works fine. But one person reported one instance where a Colleague was generated and the chamber opened but appeared empty (and the "hidden" Sim did not step out and the chamber remained "in use" so it couldn't be moved). The Chamber could still be used though and other Sims were generated just fine. That may have been a fluke because the chamber was perhaps walled in too tight and surrounded by too many objects, and the Sim would not materialize properly. If that happens to you, there's a safe resolution. Just use the "moveobjects" cheat above to delete the chamber (and if the "hidden" Sim appears right afterwards, delete the Sim too). It's not a "bug", it's just a oddity possibly with creation game code and I wanted to mention this work-around here just in case it happens to you.

NEED MORE HELP?:

If you have any questions about downloading, unzipping and installing, please visit our FAQ page which has very detailed instructions at http://www.simslice.com/faq.htm

Any problems with crashes, freezes or objects not showing up are 99.9% of the time related to either "requirements" not being met, OR a fluke in the downloading/installing process... but it's NOT because of the actual object coding itself. Check our FAQ page for a very detailed list of these issues and resolutions you can do to resolve them. Typically the fix is to double check the requirements, and if you meet them, then delete and redownload the item. Do NOT use Simzip to unzip them. Further information as previously stated, is detailed on our FAQ page at http://www.simslice.com/faq.htm. If you still need help after consulting our FAQ page, please contact us and we'll try to help further.
