REQUIREMENTS: NONE -- This should be compatable with any version of The Sims 2 game.

NOTE: Sims 2 content is not compatable with the previous The Sims "1" game.

REQUIRED GAME FILES:

7Simslice-TS2-HSPhone.package
7Simslice-TS2-HSHandset.package

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

Unzip and put the two files above into this folder:
C:\..\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads
Or if you are a frequent downloader, it might help you organize your downloads better if you created a new folder and named it "Simslice", like this:
C:\..\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads\Simslice

(Note: The "Downloads" folder is not created when the game is installed, but only when the auto-installer from the game is first used. So if you don't have this "Downloads" folder or if you are new to downloading, simply create the folder in that location (spelled exactly the same - use the capital "D"))

You MUST install both files - one file is the handset, the other file is the base unit that hangs on the wall. They both act together, but as separate objects. If one is missing, neither will function as intended.

DESCRIPTION:

Home Shopping Phone!
Buy Mode Price: 103
Buy Mode Category: Electronics
Enabled for use at-home and in Community and University lots
Works with any version of The Sims 2 game

Object Description:

Using this cool new touchtone phone, you can purchase MANY things that are not found in Buy Mode. Sims can buy any Career Reward object or any Aspiration Reward object (including a college diploma) instantly over the phone and at reasonable prices. Those Sims "in the know" can also tap into Slater's Black Market and browse through some of his "creatively acquired" wares at bargain basement prices (...keep a wrench handy, just in case). This is not a cheat object and lots of surprises were hacked into this one. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

You can also use the phone as a regular phone to call all the other standard services available in all phones, so this phone could replace your regular wall phone if you want.

Updated September 24, 2005: If you installed the Nightlife expansion pack, there is a new Aspiration Reward called the "ReNuYu Senso Orb" that allows Sims to change their Lifetime Aspirations and their Turn-Ons & Turn-offs. This phone has been updated to make this new Reward object buyable too, if you have Nightlife of course. :)

Updated October 19, 2006: This phone also provides the new Aspiration Reward in the Pets expansion pack called "Kibble of Life". This magical bowl of food has five "charges" in it, each of which extends your pet's current age level by three days when they eat from it, puppies and kittens excluded. However, a pet can only use this reward once per age (twice in a lifetime - once as an adult and once as an elder).

GAME PLAY INFO:

Pie Menu Options:

"Order Products.../Info"
"Order Products.../Career Rewards"
"Order Products.../Aspiration Rewards"
"Order Products.../BLACK MARKET!" (see below)
Plus all other standard phone options (call Sim, Call Services, etc. etc.)

Using your touchtone phone, you can purchase many things not found in stores. Buy Career Reward objects and Aspiration Reward objects instantly over the phone. Only Teens on up can buy items (children are too young to make telephone purchases).

All sales are final. Items purchased in most cases are non-refundable (but you can delete them whenever you want). Aspiration Rewards cost the same, just in Simoleans. Career Rewards each cost 3500.

The Aspiration Rewards are displayed from least expensive to most expensive, except for the new Nightlife ReNuYu Senso Orb - that is at the very end of the catalog (but only costs around 6,000)

BONUS: Slater's Black Market is rumored to be in town! But he has to stay one step ahead of the law, so he may not always be available. Keep calling back and you may see some of his "creatively acquired" wares for sale and at bargain basement prices! Happy shopping!

You can read this information by clicking on "Info" in the game.

Any Sim can access Slater's Black Market, if it's around at the time (usually later hours). However those Sims working in the Criminal Career track will have much longer lasting access to the Black Market.

The phone shares the same phone line as other phones in the house. For example, if one phone rings, they all ring, including this new phone.

THE HANDSET: The way wall phones work in the game, handsets are separate objects (you can see that if you zoom into a wall phone really close just after "buying" it, then run the game, you'll see the phone graphic change (to that of a base without a handset) and an identical handset "object" appear in it's "slot". For some reason, some have reported that when a standard game phone on the lot rings, like if a neighboring Sim is calling your house for example, the handset might disappear from the base of this new phone. Don't worry, if you click on the new phone to "Answer" the call, the handset will reappear and the Sim will answer the call normally. I noticed a few coding irregularities in the original game Wall Phone, and I suspect that's part of why this sometimes happens to wall phone clones. It may or may not be fixable, and if it is I'll update this object.

NEED MORE HELP?:

If you have any questions about downloading, unzipping and installing, please visit our FAQ page which has very detailed instructions at http://www.simslice.com/faq.htm

Any problems with crashes, freezes or objects not showing up are 99.9% of the time related to either "requirements" not being met, OR a fluke in the downloading/installing process... but it's NOT because of the actual object coding itself. Check our FAQ page for a very detailed list of these issues and resolutions you can do to resolve them. Typically the fix is to double check the requirements, and if you meet them, then delete and redownload the item. Do NOT use Simzip to unzip them. Further information as previously stated, is detailed on our FAQ page at http://www.simslice.com/faq.htm. If you still need help after consulting our FAQ page, please contact us and we'll try to help further.
