DESCRIPTION:

Tree of Life!
Price: 10,000
Category: Build Mode (Gardening)
Enabled for use at-home, on Community and University lots
Works with any version of The Sims 2 game

Object Description:
For those that want to play their same family for an extended period of time. Named the Tree of Life, this object is similar to the one described in Genesis. Plop this on your lot and your family will never experience an Age Transition. Kids will be kids forever, and parents need never grow old and die. Guests are unaffected. Keep your family "ageless" as long as you want -- just like in the original Sims! If you want to resume aging normally again, simply delete the Tree from your lot.

GAMEPLAY INFO:

This is not a tree of immortality -- sims can still die in the game from causes other than old age (such as cooking a TV Dinner) :p But seriously, basically the job of the Tree of Life is to keep Sims in their current age "Stage" (child, adult, etc.) for as long as the Tree is on the lot. So you can play your same-aged family for an extended period of time for as long as you want. To accomplish this goal best, this object checks all the Sims age stages and then lowers their "days" to their lowest level in the stage:

Toddler becomes Child in 4 days
Child becomes Teen in 8 days
Teen becomes Adult in 15 days*
Adult becomes Elder in 29 days
Elder is 54 days

*Note the Teen adjustment below in "Update list"

If your Sim is already at their lowest age in their age stage then there will be no change. You MIGHT see the age of a Sim increase by 1 day on the very next day (that's because this Tree doesn't affect the core aging program), and if so the tree will soon counter act that and return ages to the lowered state. So don't be concerned. In all liklihood you won't notice any of it's functioning at all. :)

To resume aging normally again, simply delete the tree from your lot. The tree affects family members only; guests and visitors are unaffected. It is enabled for use on all lots.

UPDATE LIST:

This version of the Tree of Life you just downloaded has all the current updates. If you're interested in reading about them in detail, they are listed below for your reference:

UDPATED APRIL 2005: The Teen age setting was increased by one additional day so that users of the TS2 University expansion pack don't get daily pop up offers to send their Teen to college. Thanks to Larry L. for reporting this issue. :)

uPDATED MARCH 2005: Better graphics, depicting lusher green leaves and bright purple flowering.

UPDATED JANUARY 4, 2005: If you had problems with normal aging resuming after deleting the tree from the lot, then delete the older version and download this updated version. This one checks the "age group" of each Sim and reduces them to the lowest age of their group, based on that group (not just a general number). We found that this was necessary or it could be a very long time before certain Sims began to age normally again (after the tree was removed). If you previously saved a lot with the older version of this tree on it, you might want to re-save that lot with this tree on it, to refresh the proper ages. It's no big deal... but it could allow normal aging to resume naturally, if it was a problem for you. If not, just disregard this entire paragraph. ;) Thanks to Melinda C. for alerting us to this, and for beta testing this update.

NEED MORE HELP?:

If you have any questions about downloading, unzipping and installing, please visit our FAQ page which has very detailed instructions at http://www.simslice.com/faq.htm

Any problems with crashes, freezes or objects not showing up are 99.9% of the time related to either "requirements" not being met, OR a fluke in the downloading/installing process... but it's NOT because of the actual object coding itself. Check our FAQ page for a very detailed list of these issues and resolutions you can do to resolve them. Typically the fix is to double check the requirements, and if you meet them, then delete and redownload the item. Do NOT use Simzip to unzip them. Further information as previously stated, is detailed on our FAQ page at http://www.simslice.com/faq.htm. If you still need help after consulting our FAQ page, please contact us and we'll try to help further.
