DESCRIPTION:

Venus Sim Trap
Buy Mode Price: 2351
Buy Mode Category: Decorative (Plants)
Statistics: Fun 2
Enabled for use at-home and on away-from-home lots
Requirements: The Sims 2 University Expansion Pack

Object Description:
This Venus Fly Trap mutation allows you to choose which Sim on the lot will meet an... shall we say untimely demise. Victims can be any Sim on the lot you choose - be they NPC, neighbor, family, Toddler, or just some hapless passer-by. This is humerous but functional too. For example, Sims can rid their lot of those nasty burglars before they steal. Or loners can... "discourage" neighbors from visiting or jogging past their house. Additional changes and interactions have been added for those who simply want to "Admire" this bizarre plant. The "bait" is a pizza slice (not cake), but this plant won't eat any Sims unless you actually select them to be eaten. :p

This is similar to our TS1 Guard Tomatoes, except that... uh, it's not a tomato. And you need to actually select the Sim to be "removed" -- click on the plant, and it will list the names of all "edible" Sims currently on the lot. Simslice doesn't typically make death objects, but since we've had a lot of requests for a way to permanently remove Sims from the game, we thought this would be a pretty entertaining way to do it... well, probably not so entertaining for all your Sims... :p

ADDITIONAL GAMEPLAY NOTES:

"Make Plant Food":

This new interaction we added allows you to select the name of any Sim on your lot to walk up to the plant and be eaten. From a coding standpoint, the interaction pushed is of maximum priority, so they will likely stop whatever they are doing to go be eaten. The Sim you use to click on the plant will gain some Fun points too.

"Admire" Interaction:

This is another new interaction we coded in, to provide a safe but fun way for Sims to interact with, and react to, this plant. Sims won't be eaten while admiring it, but they will gain some Fun points and also have a variety of reactions, depending on their physical prowess (Body Skills).

Repoman & Firefighter:

This may not be an issue for everyone, but I noticed that these two NPCs when eaten, tend to shift the plant a bit to the right. It has to do with the code in these particular NPCs. For all the other characters tested, this shift did not happen, so hopefully this is just a fluke with these two characters only. If this happens in your game, the next time anyone interacts with the plant, it will shift back to the left. So just "Admire" it, "Tease" it or send another sim into it... whatever interaction you want, and that action will move the plant back. No biggie. Very likely the code for the TS2U "Laganaphyllis Simnovorii" is the same way too, but I've never seen that plant eat an NPC to test. Most importantly, I didn't notice any gameplay problems as a result of this... shify phenomenon, but I just wanted to mention it so in case it does happen to you, you don't make a "Home Alone" face (please, we've all seen enough of that, right?...). ;)

Carpools:

The NPC car driver in any carpool is technically on your lot, so their name will show when you click on the plant. But don't waste your time - they will not leave the car to be eaten... shame on them...

Telephone Conversations With Neighboring Sims:

When your Sim is on the phone with a neighboring Sim, if you click on the plant, sometimes their name will appear even though they are not actually on the lot. I suspect the game in some way creates an instance of that Sim for the purposes of the conversation. Most of the time if you select their name, nothing should happen since the Sim is not physically there to be eaten. But a couple of times during testing, when the name of the Sim on the phone was clicked on in the plant, it did kill that Sim and put their appropriate tombstone on the lot. The standard "is my room <> 0?" code used in TS1 to circumvent this didn't work here for some reason, and there is probably another way around this. If resolved, it will be updated later. But I really don't think it's a major gameplay issue worth withholding this from release, and no major problems were caused that we could tell.... well, other than a (probably very surprised) dead Sim on the other end of the phone. :p

NEED MORE HELP?:

If you have any questions about downloading, unzipping and installing, please visit our FAQ page which has very detailed instructions at http://www.simslice.com/faq.htm

Any problems with crashes, freezes or objects not showing up are 99.9% of the time related to either "requirements" not being met, OR a fluke in the downloading/installing process... but it's NOT because of the actual object coding itself. Check our FAQ page for a very detailed list of these issues and resolutions you can do to resolve them. Typically the fix is to double check the requirements, and if you meet them, then delete and redownload the item. Do NOT use Simzip to unzip them. Further information as previously stated, is detailed on our FAQ page at http://www.simslice.com/faq.htm. If you still need help after consulting our FAQ page, please contact us and we'll try to help further.
